Please join us on November 8, 2014 for the kick-off 4th Annual Charity & Costume Ball as we celebrate and bring awareness to Afrofuturism and Black SciFi culture with feature visual and performance artists, authors, and presenters who present creations using Afrofuturism and Black Sci-Fi as vehicles for expression and agency. Afrofuturist and Sci-fi Costumes are Strongly Encouraged!!!

*AfroFuturism is a literary, artistic and cultural aesthetic that considers Blackness as it looks and is defined in the future, examines science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and magic as it critiques the present-day situations of people of color, explores the implications of technology on Black art and literature, and interrogates historical events involving Blacks across the diaspora. Popular artists, musicians, theorists, and writers whose works contain Afrofuturistic elements include: Sun Ra, Saul Williams, Toni Morrison, Erykah Badu, Nalo Hopkinson, Outkast, Octavia Butler, Janelle Monae, Wu Tang Clan, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Amiri Baraka, George Clinton, Samuel Delaney, and many, many others.
