The embrace of user experience by the design community has led to a real need for design practitioners who can create and execute user-centric design activities. But knowing where to start may seem overwhelming. This 4-hour workshop will prepare junior user experience practitioners as… Show more well as designers, developers, project managers, and others who wish to introduce information architecture and user research practices into their organizations.
The workshop will be broken into two sections: Ia documentation and user research. Each section will cover useful methods and will provide answers to the following questions: What is involved in the technique? What are its deliverables? And why introduce this method into a project? Each technique will also include sample documentation and a list of references so attendees may research further.
The goal of this 4-hour workshop is for attendees to acquire a foundational understanding of information architecture and user research techniques along with example contexts of use, which will enable attendees to introduce them effectively into their own design practices.

About The Instructor
Dave Cooksey is a user experience consultant based in Philadelphia. For the past 10 years, he has worked both independently and with digital agencies providing information architecture and taxonomy services to clients in the e-commerce, media, and healthcare industries. He is passionate about informing and evaluating design through user research and the power of structured data to drive experiences. He is an active member of the Ux community in Philadelphia and has served as Chair of PhillyCHI multiple times. He is a member of the Information Architecture Institute and volunteers in organizing the Ia Summit. When not working, you’ll find him at Phillies baseball games, drinking craft beers, or traveling internationally.
