After arriving in Austin in 1983 he was featured with Townes Van Zandt, Butch Hancock & Jimmie Dale Gilmore in "A West Texas Songwriter's Special" on PBS's series Austin City Limits. "Hard Livin' " had already been covered by Joe Ely & has since been recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker, Keith Whitley (Top 10 Country Hit), The Nighthawks & many others. In the May/June 2010 issue of American Songwriter magazine in 50 Country Songs Every Songwriter Should Know his song Rain Just Falls was listed as #18.
