Roxy

Although based in Los Angeles, California, USA, Roxy were founded by two San Franciscan musicians, Bob Segarini (guitar, bass, vocals) and Jim De Cocq (guitar, keyboards). Both were former members of the pioneering Family Tree. Randy Bishop (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals), James Morris (keyboards) and John McDonald (drums) completed the founding line-up. Roxy were signed to Elektra Records in 1970 and the album shows a group with a firm grasp of melodic pop. The opening track, ‘Love Love Love’ deftly combines Beatles -styled hooklines with west coast dynamism. The quintet split up soon afterwards, but the following year Segarini and Bishop emerged, still on Elektra, with the equally-assured Wackers. ~ Rovi
