Dr. Brunts is very passionate about diabetes care. She leads the Esse Health Diabetes Wellness Program and in 2006 the group won the Primaris Quality Award for diabetes care. Dr. Brunts is also the recipient of the 2009 President's Award from the American Diabetes Association. This award reflects Dr. Brunts' continuing leadership for ADA's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes, her involvement in the ADA speaker's bureau and her passion for helping people with diabetes.
Dr. Brunts has been awarded Recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association for patient care in Diabetes. NCQA, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association, developed the Diabetes Recognition Program to recognize clinicians who have met standards demonstrating delivery of high quality care to patients with diabetes. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Brunts is an Instructor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. Prior to moving to St. Louis, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Dr. Brunts has also been named as one of the Best Doctors in America from 2011-2012.
