Jessie Baylin

New Jersey-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Jessie Baylin began singing informally as a child (she and her mother would sing along with pop songs), but it was at age 13 that she began exploring the work of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Barbra Streisand, and other female vocalists. After high school, Baylin moved to California and began writing songs that drew from jazz and pop/rock influences. After generating label interest through her demo tapes and a residency at the Los Angeles club the Mint, Baylin released Firesight on Verve Forecast in 2008. ~ Katherine Fulton, All Music Guide
