David Miller

David Miller is a leading British lutenist who took up the instrument in the late '70s while he was a guitar student. He continued to study at the Early Music Centre where he developed accompanying skills and took part in a series of master classes given by famous lutenists. He developed into a much in-demand continuo player on early instruments such as theorbo, archlute, and baroque guitar. He has performed with all the principal period instrument orchestras in England, including the Rennaisance Ensemble, the Dufay Collective, the Purcell Quartet, and Musica Secreta. He performs, records, and broadcasts with ensembles such as the Academy of Ancient Music, the Brandenburg Consort, the King's Consort, and the Taverner Players. He has recorded several album projects on his own and has also appeared as a soloist on a variety of ensemble efforts. Proving that one can go home again, he is now a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama -- the very institution where he first took up the lute. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
