Show all (17)Grammy Award® winning country music singer George Harvey Strait was born May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas. Critics call Strait a living legend, "King of Country”, known for his exceptional ballads, western swing music, honky-tonk style, and unique country western music.
Strait's 38 hit albums, 12 multi platinum, 22 platinum and four gold rank him behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles.
In 1989 and 1990 Strait was awarded Entertainer of the Year by both The Country Music Association Awards (CMA) and The Acadamy of Country Music (ACM). Most recently in 2008 George Strait was bestowed with a Grammy Award® for Best Country Album.
