The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys started out as a gospel group in 1945 as the Oak Ridge Quartet. Their name was changed in the early 60's and their music style changed from gospel to country in the 70's. The band has changed members throughout the years. Their initial group change was due to creative differences where Wally Fowler the founder just wanted to focus on gospel. Today's group lineup is, lead singer and second tenor Duane Allen, baritone William Lee Golden, tenor Joe Bonsall, and bass Richard Sterban.
Their first Grammy Award was won in 1970 for "Talk About the Good Times" They have won many awards thereafter from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association, and another Grammy in 1982 for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal-"Elvira"
They have worked with Elvis Presley,Johnny Cash, and the Carter Family.
