b. c.1967, USA. Heavy-rock singer-songwriter Hall first cut his teeth on the Nashville country circuit, before moving to Atlanta at the age of 18, where he formed Mary My Hope, known during his activities therein as ‘Lynchpin’. He made his first recordings with that band at Curtis Mayfield’s studio in 1990, during sessions that produced their debut album, Museum. When Mary My Hope hit a ‘creative stalemate’, Hall formed a new band under his own name with Lynn, a friend from Atlanta, before finding Grant and then Sterling to finalize the line-up in 1993. The group’s debut album saw their singer reacquaint himself with his late 70s/early 80s influences, while critics name-checked David Bowie, Julian Cope and the Psychedelic Furs as reference points. Recent work aligns him more closely with Black Crowes and Rage Against The Machine. ~ Rovi
