George Clinton

Music producer, singer, songwriter George Clinton, was born July 22, 1941 in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the principal draftsman of P-Funk was the mastermind of the Parliament and Funkadelic during the 1970s and early 1980s, began his work as a solo artist in 1981. Clinton has been called one of the most important innovators of funk music along with Sly Stone and James Brown.
After being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the other fifteen members of Parliament/Funkadelic in 1997, Clinton became a member of the legendary Foundation.
On September 10, 2009, George Clinton was awarded the Urban Icon Award from Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the collecting society for composers' copyrights.
