The Roy Owens Jr.

The Roy Owens Jr. emerged from the Atlanta area in 2001 with a sound combining Americana and Southern rock traditionalism with a pop vibe channeled from indie rock. Led by the mysterious Roy Owens, the combo was rounded out by Shannon Mulvaney, R.L. Martin, and Brad Lewis, who were all scene veterans. Mulvaney had played bass in Magnapop and Martin had supported Eric Bachmann in Crooked Fingers, while Lewis had drummed with the Sight-Seers. The Roy Owens issued its debut, This Is an Illusion, in summer 2003 through International Hits, an Atlanta-based indie run in part by Mulvaney and functioning as an Elephant 6-style collective of complimenting rock groups. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
