DJ Robbie Martin

To know what kind of DJ I am, look at what kind of DJ I am not. I am not a visionary, savant, guru, nor someone born with an internal rhythm. I had to learn every aspect of DJing from scratch. My passion began on the dance floor of The Parade Disco when I first heard live mixing. I was obsessed and began acquiring 12" singles. I taught myself the art of mixing in the production studio of a radio station. From my first good mix I knew that this would be a life-long hobby at the least, and a career at the most... and at different periods it has been both. I learned what to play, and when to play it by listening to the best DJs on the circuit while running their lightshows at The Bourbon Pub/Parade disco during the major holiday events Southern Decadance, Mardi Gras, and Halloween. I learned alot from Max Rodriguez, Lydia Prim, Buc, and Mike Duretto. Today I stay versatile with my sets. I really enjoy T-dances the most because the music brings back memories for me and for the crowd, but I also throw down when playing current tracks. Keep your eyes on me when Im working and you may just see a wig on my head as I lipsync to a diva belting out a hot circuit track.......Thanks for reading and have a great day!
