Marilyn Manson

From age 5 through his first year of high school he was enrolled in a Christian boarding school, an experience he says turned him against organized religion. Takes his stage name from Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Formed the band that bears his (stage) name in 1990, and not long after, he met fellow Ohio native Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Gotta look past it

Marilin Manson has a way with words. And his videos and concerts are candy for the eyes...albeit with an edge. A very dark edge. You have too look past all the glitz, the goth, the glamor and the shock and you will see that he actually performs and he performs well. His songs have an edge to them but there are messages there and some of them are not all bad. A lot of them are taking a look at what's wrong with the world today. But hey, every band does that. If you can get past the shock value, the goth and the horror that he and his band does then you will discover that Marilin Manson truely is a great singer with truely great songs in his repertoire.

The superstar of marketing self parody to millions who didn't care (and wanted everybody to know), Manson screamed his way through the 80's monster hit Sweet Dreams into a bloody fortune of wild fashion and unspeakable fame. He did everything about crap-metal better than bands who wanted to be taken seriously, and certainly knew how to make a video. He also knew when to drop out of sight, taking his recent reappearance out of "dear god not him again" and putting it in "oh yeah, that was cool."
