Lived in Paris and London as a child. Father wrote the classic Alka Seltzer jingle "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is." Majored in Art History but became interested in acting in college and was hooked when she landed her first part in a school production of David Rabe's In the Boom Boom Room as a go-go dancer. Made film debut as a prostitute in the 1991 Steven Seagal flick Out for Justice . Won an Emmy for the first season of ER and was nominated every year she was on as a regular. Famously turned down $27 million to continue on ER for two more seasons when she left in 2000. Made her Broadway debut in 2006 in Festen . Starred in and produced the short-lived legal drama Canterbury's Law .
