The rap-rock outfit Brougham was formed in Palo Alto, CA, by childhood friends Luke Oakson (aka Luke Sick) and Jason Slater (also of Snake River Conspiracy and a co-founder of Third Eye Blind). Oakson had been in a hip-hop outfit called Sacred Hoop, and approached Slater about producing a record for them; instead, the two began collaborating on new material. Slater and Oakson wrote and recorded most of Brougham's 2000 debut album, Le Cock Sportif, by themselves, but recruited several musicians to help out in the studio; an entirely different touring lineup was assembled to back Oakson afterwards, as Slater elected to go on the road with Snake River Conspiracy. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
