Clint Eastwood (born May 31, 1930 in San Francisco, CA) is an actor, director, producer and composer. He is a five time Academy Award® winner and a five time Golden Globe® Award winner, as well as a recipient of the People's Choice® Awards Favorite All-Time Motion Picture Star award.
His professional career began in 1955 with bit parts in TV and movies. He made his screen debut with the TV series Rawhide (1959-1966) and his first feature film was "Fist Full of Dollars" in 1964, the first the in Dollars Trilogy (which included "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" in 1966). Throughout the 60s and 70s Eastwood starred in many action and western films, usually portraying an "anti-hero" role, ambiguous to good and evil.
Eastwood moved on to star in a larger variety of films. He also begin directing, with his directorial debut in 1971's "Play Misty for Me." Eastwood directs most of the movies he stars in these days. He started to produce films in 1982 with "Firefox."
In total, Eastwood has been nominated for nominated for 10 Academy Awards®. He won two in 1993 for the movie "Unforgiven" (Best Director and Best Picture), as well as being nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. In 2004 he was nominated for two awards (Best Director and Best Picture) for "Mystic River." In 2005 he won two more, Best Picture and Best Director, for "Million Dollar Baby" as well as being nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Finally, in 2007 he was nominated for two awards, Best Director and Best Picture for "Letters from Iwo Jima." Eastwood has also picked up three Golden Globe® Awards: 1989's Best Director in "Bird", 1993's Best Director in "Unforgiven," and 2005's Best Director for "Million Dollar Baby."
