Cane 141

Carrying in the tradition of bands like the Pale Fountains and Moose, Michael Smalle, Shane Burke, Colm Hogan, Ronan Burke, Paul Brennan, and Gerard Connolly are Cane 141, a band that plays a breezy brand of refined indie pop embellished by synthesizers and a slew of other instruments – from turntables to woodwinds to strings – contributed by a small cast of supporting musicians. They've also taken a number of more experimental influences such as Silver Apples, Pere Ubu, and Popol Vuh, and they blend their disparate influences together for a rather unique blend. Scene from 6AM, their debut LP, was released by Secret in 1998. They hopped over to Setanta for 2000's Garden Tiger Moth. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
