He was the first rap artist to receive a Grammy in the Rap category. He then starred in the hit television series, "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" for six seasons from 1990-1996, which started his acting career. He has been in such hit movies from "Six Degrees of Separation", "Independence Day", "Bad Boys","Bad Boys 2", "Seven Pounds", "Pursuit of Happyness", just to name a few.

His early hip-hop and rap was heavily influential and remains an example of how entertainment can reflect reality without the negativity, stereotypes, and language. Will Smith is one of the most successful movie stars with audiences flocking to questionable movies such as I Am Legend in droves just to see Smith. His appeal? A great sense of humor, humility and humanity that makes him jump off the screen to come across as your best friend next door who happens to fight aliens, laugh with the best, and sing and dance better than you.
