From San Francisco, California, USA, Lamb was formed as a folk-based duo by Barbara Mauritz (vocals) and Bob Swanson (vocals/guitar). Bill Graham signed them to his Fillmore label where by 1970 they had developed into a rock act with the addition of Mark Springer (guitar), Tom Salisbury (keyboards), David Hayes (bass) and Rick Schlosser (drums). Now managed by Graham, the sextet were heavily promoted around the Bay Area, securing a slot on the closing bills at the Fillmore West and on the resultant film and soundtrack album. However, although Mauritz’s vocals were strong, the material played was unexceptional. Mauritz then had an unsuccessful solo career while Hayes and Schlosser joined Van Morrison’s band. Schlosser then played with Boz Scaggs’ band, playing once again with Tom Salisbury. ~ Rovi
