Steve Carell was a correspondent on The Daily Show for several years, and also appeared in recurring sketches like "Even Stephven [sic]" (with Stephen Colbert) and "Produce Pete." In 2005, Carell played the lead role in NBC's remake of the British sitcom The Office, for which he subsequently won a Golden Globe® in 2006 ("Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Musical Or Comedy"). He played the lead role in the 2005 film The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which he developed and co-wrote. Carell also appeared in a short cameo alongside Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell in the 2005 remake of Bewitched as well as in the role of Maxwell Smart in the movie remake of Get Smart.
Other screen credits include a role in the short-lived Julia Louis-Dreyfus sitcom Watching Ellie (2002–2003), along with parts in such films as Bruce Almighty as an arrogant rival to Jim Carrey who gets the ultimate comeuppance at a news desk (a role Carrell will revisit in the 2006 sequel Evan Almighty, this time as star); Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, playing yet another news personality, this time a dimwitted member of Burgundy's crew; and Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda. In 1996, he was a cast member of the briefly aired The Dana Carvey Show. Carell has also done some voice acting, including several voices in "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" for Saturday Night Live.

I love Steve Carell because he looks so normal. Not Hollywood glam, which is inspiring because it's like - wow! this forty-something year old guy who looks like a total Dad achieved an incredible amount of success at a really late age! I love it because it's really untypical!
The pivotal moment in his career was when he starred in "40-Year Old Virgin" -- who could ever forget that chest waxing scene?! Yikes! He recently played the voice of the Mayor in "Horton Hears a Who!" and in my opinion, does a far better job than Jim Carrey! He's so animated and funny! It must be tough being a voice of those characters, but he pulls it off flawlessly! :)
