Emmy® Award winner and Tony Award® nominee Debbie Allen made her big screen debut in The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh in 1979, and starred in the blockbuster movie Fame the following year in the role of dance instructor Lydia Grant, whom she also played in the TV series while also handling directorial and choreography duties. She is the older sister of Phylicia Rashad of Cosby Show fame, and continues to be active in television.
