André Previn

Moved with his family to Los Angeles in 1939, escaping Nazi Germany. Became a U.S. citizen in 1943. Started working on writing and arranging film scores in Hollywood in 1946. Was a successful pianist and accompanist, working on albums with Doris Day, Dinah Shore and Julie Andrews in the 1960s. Has been the conductor of a number of symphony orchestras, including those in Houston, London, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
