Fred Hersch

Jazz pianist Fred Hersch studied at the New England Conservatory and began playing professionally after returning to Cincinnati in 1977. He soon relocated to New York and played with a host of leading artists, including Art Farmer, Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, and Jane Ira Bloom. He also composed extensively in both jazz and classical styles, recording "Concerto" with the unusual combination of Toots Thielemans, a big band, and the Chamber Orchestra Of Lausanne.
