Rochelle Bard

Praised for her ‘exquisite’ voice and ‘poignant’ acting, soprano Rochelle Bard has been recognized by prestigious vocal competitions. Ms. Bard recently won the top prizes in the Classical Singer Competition and Gerda Lissner Competitions, as well as awards from the George London Foundation Competition, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards, and the Licia Albanese-Puccini Competition.
Recent performances include Micaela in Carmen with Ash Lawn Opera, Musetta in La Boheme with Sacramento Opera,… Show more the Foreign Princess in Rusalka with Boston Lyric Opera, and the title roles in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Idaho and The Merry Widow with St. Petersburg Opera Company. The 2010 season includes her debut as Magda in La Rondine with Opera Tampa. Previously a Resident Artist with Opera San José, Ms. Bard was an acclaimed success as Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda in Rigoletto, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, Violetta in La Traviata, and Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly. The San Francisco Chronicle deemed her performance of Lucia ‘a knockout’ with ‘a haunting sense of vulnerability.’
Ms. Bard has also performed on the stages of Baltimore Opera, Tanglewood, Opera Boston, Maine Grand Opera, Cape Cod Opera and New England Light Opera. Ms. Bard is a Massachusetts native and graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and the New England Conservatory of Music.
