Ritchie Valens was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who was most notable for pioneering the Spanish rock and roll movement with his smash hits "Donna" and "La Bamba".
On February 3, 1959 (a day Don McLean called "The Day The Music Died") he was killed along with Buddy Holly and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson when their plane crashed outside of Mason City, Iowa.
