Henry Threadgill

In the early-60s, multi-reedman Henry Threadgill played with Roscoe Mitchell and Muhal Richard Abrams in the Experimental Band, a precursor to the AACM. He then spent several years touring with an evangelist camp, before serving in the U.S. Army. After returning to Chicago in the late '60s,Threadagill formed Air, an influential trio with Fred Hopkins (bass) and Steve McCall (percussion), which was followed by quasi-classical X-75.
