The band was originally formed as a side project by members of the Charlotte bands Borghal Rantipole and Frocky Jack both of whom played regionally in the Carolinas throughout the late 1990s- early 2000s. Founded after singer/guitarist Eric Cook (Frocky Jack, the Blots) and drummer Jimmy Poplin (Borghal Rantipole, Fat Cabbage) starting playing some misfit songs that hadn’t found a home with Frocky Jack. Scott Thompson (Borghal Rantipole, Ashley Robinson) assisted with bass, keyboards, etc., as well as, his recording expertise. After some occassional shows the main bands each broke up. Thank you, spaceman survived it all and despite geographical challenges have continued. Surviving for a while as a two-piece before returning to a three piece status again in May, 2006 with Scott (who also performs with Mons Venera) returning to his original bass, guitar, fishbowl, accordion, keyboard, etc. role.
