Australian Abba impersonators and one of the first to kick-start the ongoing tribute band craze. In the early 90s they captured an unexpected upswing in the nostalgia value of the ‘lost decade’ - the 70s. The band, Bjorn Voloveus, Agnetha Falstart, Benny Anderwear and Frida, have maintained an admirable press embargo on conceding that they actually are a ‘copy’ band: ‘One of the world’s greatest coincidences is the similarity between the looks, the words and the melodies of Bjorn Again and Abba.’ Whatever, their nearly note-perfect renditions of ‘Fernando’, ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘The Name Of The Game’, et al., has seen them cultivate a fanatical live following since their inception in 1989. Their cult status was enhanced by a Reading Festival appearance where Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain was among their admirers. They responded with a live jam of ‘Smells Like Swede Spirit’. Proof of their impact, and the rediscovered pop magic of Abba, came with Erasure’s number 1 EP Abbaesque. Bjorn Again replied with the equally devotional Erasure-ish EP. ~ Rovi
