Enya

Soothing chants, rhythmic backdrops, and surreal synthesized sounds are hallmarks of the famous New Age artist Enya. Born Eithne (pronounced Enya) Patricia Ni Bhraonain on the 17th of May, 1961, in Ireland. As the child of a very musical family It seemed almost destiny that Enya would one day become a musician as well. Her start in music came in 1980 when she worked with the band Clannad, a band composed of three of her siblings and her twin uncles Noel and Padraig Duggan.

In 1988 Enya received international attention with the release of "Orinoco Flow" (sometimes called "Sail Away") from the album "Watermark". With "Watermark" hitting sales of eleven million copies her success as an international musician was insured.

Since then Enya has released six full length albums, sold over 80 million albums as of 2009, and received four Grammy awards for best New Age Album.
