Bainian Tan

A renowned tenor and vocal educator, Zhi Yin Singers' Music Director and founder Bainian Tan was the lead soloist at Shanghai Philharmonic and a visiting lead tenor at Shanghai Opera House, recorded 28 films' and television shows' theme songs, and starred in an autobiographic movie before coming to US in 1988. Along with two other choral groups and Nova Vista Orchestra in 2005, Zhi Yin Singers' performance in “The Voice of Yellow River Concert” before an audience of 2500, with Mr. Tan as the concert Conductor and Music Director, was praised with “a very high level of musicianship”, “the energy was amazing and the sound was beautiful", and "Bainian Tan is impressive”.

Along with his son, Michael Tan, a pianist, he recorded a two-CD set, titled “That is Me”, in 2001. This CD set, a collection of forty famous songs and arias from around the world, showcases Bainian Tan’s wide spectrum of vocal styles.
