b. New Jersey, USA. Robinson made her mark as a singer with her dramatic vocal performance on Livin’ Joy’s 1994 club anthem, ‘Dreamer’. Subsequently replaced in the line-up by the equally forthright Tameka Star, Robinson set about composing material for her debut album. Although she continued to work in the dance music world, making guest appearances on tracks by club divas Kristine W. and Abigail, Robinson’s The Color Within Me was first and foremost a rock album. Featuring contributions from highly-experienced session musicians Jim Keltner, Steve Ferrone and Waddy Watchel, the album’s diverse appeal was reflected by ‘Nothing I Would Change’, an Alanis Morissette -influenced musical biography, and the gospel-inflected closer, ‘It Really Don’t Matter’. ~ Rovi
