Born on January 20, 1930, Buzz Aldrin grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. He went on to graduate with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point, fly the infamous Sabre in the Korean War and downed two MIG-15s in the process.
Later in life, he earned a doctorate degree in Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
It was almost four decades ago, when on July 20, 1969, the entire world was glued to their television sets as Buzz Aldrin became the first human in the history of the Universe to set foot on the Moon (or any extra-terrestrial body) during the Apollo 11 mission.
Now in retirement, Col. Aldrin is a corporate speaker and has founded the ShareSpace Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to opening the doors to space tourism for all people.

He makes me swoon. Space is a great and exciting place and the work this man has done to further manned space exploration in unequaled. His place in history is secured for a very long time and for good reason.
