Q Bar & Grill

Welcome to the Q Bar & Grill. My name is Chuck Rohlfing and my wife’s name is Lynne, we are the proprietors. We grew up in Northern Minnesota on the south end of Lake of the Woods in the late fifties. My family had a resort on the Rainy River and my wife’s family were grain farmers in the same area. (High school sweethearts). I spent my youth and young adulthood, hunting and fishing, which I still enjoy to this day.

After Lynne and I graduated from college, we married and moved to Ketchikan, Alaska. We both had teaching contracts to assure us of a job. The first winter there, Lynne and I bought a 40 foot salmon troller and proceeded to commercial fish the following two summers. After the third year of teaching, we bought the Alaska Bar and Liquor store.

Lynne, being a home economics instructor, continued teaching and set up the first Sea Education Program, which taught the culinary arts to potential employees on the Alaska Ferry System and commercial vessels.

Meanwhile I managed our new investment, which turned out to be successful and offered us new opportunities.

After ten years, our children started to arrive and we decided Phoenix was a good place to raise them.

Our hearts were always in the Food and Beverage industry. In the summer of 1986 we opened the first Q Bar & Grill, which is located in Peoria, Arizona. Knowing that people like fresh fish as much as we do, we ordered 50 pounds of fresh fish for our first Friday Night Fish Fry, we sold out in 30 minutes. Needless to say our customers were not happy! It did not take us long to figure out our market. In 1996 we opened our second restaurant, The Other Q Bar & Grill located in Phoenix, Arizona. We now serve fresh fish daily and sell over 2500 pounds a week.

Although we specialize in fish, my other food passion is sausage making. Our menu has a few of my favorite sausage recipes on it, as well as sandwiches, salads and bar snacks.

Both of our restaurant locations continue to be managed by my wife Lynne, my daughter Julie and myself.
