Troop 3 to hold 75th Anniversary Reunion and Court of Honor
Since 1937, Boy Scouts Troop 3, sponsored by Cokesbury United Methodist Men’s Group, has been developing future citizens and leaders. In observance, the troop will hold a 75th Anniversary Reunion and Court of Honor on Saturday, January 5, 2013. The highlight of the weekend will be a reunion dinner at McClain Hall, Summit Campus, to salute alumni, leaders and members, past and present. The troop will celebrate its history and traditions… Show more with bugle calls, singing and story-telling. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. with registration. Troop 3 patrol's “Troop 3 Through the Decadesâ€* table presentations will be on display for browsing. A buffet dinner will be served at 7 p.m for $12.00.   A slideshow presentation commemorating the Troop’s Eagle Scouts and Alumni will be shown throughout the dinner.
The program after dinner will include special recognition of dignitaries and guests attending the event. A roll call of the Troop’s Eagle Scouts and Scoutmasters will be included, with each in attendance receiving a commemorative certificate suitable for framing. The Troop will also make a special presentation to a member of our Troop for many years of participation and dedicated service. Current scouts earning awards will be presented with their badges. A silent auction will be held with baskets created by each of the Troop’s patrols with varied themes. Then the event will conclude with dessert and time for socializing.
Other events planned for the weekend are Friday the Scout Hut will be open from 7-9 p.m. Any Alum who has memorabilia and pictures to share is welcome to bring it during this time.
Current and former members of Troop 3, their wives, spouses, dates and families are invited to attend the reunion. Attendance at the reunion is by reservation only. Go online to Eventbrite.com to register and purchase tickets. The deadline to register is December 25th.
