Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute)
Part morality play, part rite of passage and part comedy, Mozart's "The Magic Flute" is like no other opera. Reflecting the arcane rituals and imagery of the Freemasonry, of which Mozart was a member, the story is heavy with symbolism, but it's also witty and funny and disarmingly human in its emotional punch, and the score packs some of the most sublime operatic music ever written. Sung in German by a fabulous cast, and made very accessible to all by our easy-to-read English supertitles.
