New Esterhazy Quartet - The Danube Runs Through It

Sunday, Apr 21, 2013 8:00p

please note: this is an evening concert!
Acclaimed period ensemble the New Esterhazy Quartet—violinists Kati Kyme and Lisa Weiss, violist Anthony Martin, and cellist William Skeen—play music created along the Danube river. Haydn’s Quartet Op. 33, No. 1 features a Gypsy fiddler in the Finale of this otherwise Austrian composition, Bartók’s fine first Quartet is truly Hungarian, and Székely’s charming “Quatuor Hongrois” (West Coast premiere), evokes the salons of upper-class Budapest.
