Fremont Ventures
Our strategy is to build long-term partnerships with experienced management teams executing superior technology-based business models targeted at seams of change within large industries. We seek to partner with complete management teams that have domain expertise, which we characterize as experience and relationships within the industries in which they are starting businesses. We prefer entrepreneurs with a track record of building successful businesses.
We are looking for companies that can demonstrate validated customer need, a sound business model, limited technology development risk and a long-term sustainable advantage. We prefer companies with a deep technology advantage.We invest in companies that we believe can be leaders in their industry and achieve revenue of $100 million during the next five to six years. Our initial investment is usually between $3 million and $7 million, which buys 20% - 30% of the companies that we invest in. We take an active role in and get involved with our companies. We require a board seat because we add most of our value as board members. We invest only where we believe that we can add value through our accumulated knowledge, our ability to help a company effect their strategy and share our network of relationships.
Blake Winchell
Blake has over 23 years of experience in operating and investing in and consulting to growing companies. Prior to Fremont Ventures, Blake was an investment professional with Generation Ventures and Leucadia National Corporation, as well as a manager in the international consulting firm, Bain and Company.
Blake graduated as a Choate Scholar from Dartmouth College and has an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Blake serves as Chairman of GlobalServe and is on the Board of Directors of BioSeek. He also serves on the International Advisory Board of the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and on the Executive Committee of the Skyline Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of the World Presidents' Organization and resides in Portola Valley, California, with his wife and their three children.
