Identity in the Shadow of the Slave Trade

Sunday, Feb 24, 2013 12:30p to 1:30p
Oxon Hill Farm Oxon Hill, MD

Come and explore, through a variety of activities, how America’s enslaved
people managed to maintain African traditions despite harsh and violent
efforts to silence these cultural practices. We will also look at how African traditions have survived and blended into American culture through
the resilient practices of the African Americans. Storytelling, music, discussion, and hands-on activities will be used to help us understand
these topics.
