Katie Malloch, host
A member of jazz "royalty," the legendary Oscar Peterson was nicknamed "the Maharaja of the Keyboard" by none other than Duke Ellington. We pay tribute to one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, a performer whose technical brilliance astonished audiences the world over, and a man who inspired generations of musicians. His 65-year career took him from his Montreal roots to Carnegie Hall and back, and he remains a source of pride for Canada. Pianist Oliver Jones, and vocalists Ranee Lee and Nikki Yanofsky join the NAC Orchestra in a concert commemorating Oscar Peterson. Katie Malloch of CBC Radio's Tonic hosts.
