Nearly thirty years ago after a Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben Board meeting the idea of River City Roundup was born with notes taken on a paper napkin. Yes, a napkin.
Now what was created in 1982 has grown into one of the regions largest events. The four-day event includes a diverse offering of entertainment and family fun. The staple events include the Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo, the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Exposition and the Douglas County Fair. In addition, numerous events like the Heritage Parade, Trail Rides, Giddy-Up Gulch and the Nebraska Beef Council’s “What’s for Dinner” Cooking Stage provide hours of excitement and activities.
Just as it was in 1982 all events are free to the public, other than the rodeo & concerts, in an effort to provide fun, exciting and educational activities to all guests. Join us as we celebrate September 25 through 28, 2008 at the Qwest Center Omaha for four days of guaranteed fun.
** The Roundup is free to enter, but purchased tickets are required for the rodeo and the headlining performer.
Pop and country mega-star Jessica Simpson headlines the 3rd night of the Roundup. As her highly anticipated debut country album is released early this fall, Jessica Simpson will take the stage Saturday, September 27th. Jessica Simpson has taken the music, fashion, beauty and entertainment industries by storm. A talented artist with universal appeal, she has become an international star and media darling. Simpson recently made country music chart history when her first country single "Come On Over" debuted at the No. 41 spot- the highest chart debut among a solo artist with no prior history on the country chart.
Make plans to visit the Fair Zone located on the upper level of the Qwest Center Omaha. This area offers hands on games and activities for children that educate while they play! Plan to check out all the areas as its never a dull day at the fair!

I'll admit, the remake with Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott was disappointing but casting Burt Reynolds, Willie Nelson, and Jessica as Boss Hogg, Uncle Jesse, and Daisy respectively was a stroke of genius which alone justifies the film.
