These guys are opening up for Dethklok this Summer. I tend to prefer old school long-hair metal with sustained screamed notes, as opposed to crew cuts and the guttural grumbling popular in modern metal.
But Soylent Green is a bit of an oddity. Their vocals are the modern unintelligible throat grumbling, but the lead singer has old-skool long hair down to his waist. He head bangs and gets those locks spinning like Sebastian Bach, back when Skid Row was the cat's meow.
I saw them at the first ill-fated Dethklok SF show (where the fire broke out), and while I only saw 3 or 4 songs, I was thoroughly entertained by the mix of old skool flair with modern metal.
