Late Night Happy Hour W/ The Joshua Boronkay Trio

In the tradition of the great American songwriter, Joshua Boronkay emerges from a gumbo of influences. Listening to Joshua's songs you may detect a hint of Latin spice, or Delta blues, with a pinch of Kentucky bluegrass, served up on Tin Pan Alley, by some beat folkies smelling really funky. Any music lover will appreciate the depth of spirit and tradition in Joshua Boronkay's music.
Born in San Diego, Joshua started playing bass in blues bands as a teenager and soon found himself gravitating toward… Show more the art of songwriting. At a very young age Joshua was introduced to Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead by his father Daniel Boronkay; an avid concert goer and blues guitar player. Joshua's mother, Emily Boronkay, shared with him her love of singing. As he dug deeper into the tradition of American music Joshua found a great appreciation for the blues of Son House and Muddy Waters. All the while the grungy fuzz of Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins were permeating his very soul fusing together to create Joshua's intensely American style.
Joshua Boronkay has toured the Western United States with a number of groups as a front man and side man. The Bucky Walters, The Berel Alexander Ensemble and Rita Lynn and the ADD Boys are just a few of the groups that Joshua has played with. Currently residing in Oakland, California, Joshua performs with a number of jazz combos, sings with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, plays bass for the T Sisters and fronts his own solo project. In 2012 Joshua released his first EP Always Time and plans on recording a full length album in the fall. By dedicating his life to the performance and education of music Joshua Boronkay hopes to share an appreciation and love of music inherent in any healthy culture.
