From Finland With Love: Marimekko in America, Past and Present
In 1959, Marimekko designs were introduced to the American market via an exhibition at D/R, the innovative Cambridge home furnishings store. Its fabrics and its dresses, dubbed a "uniform for intellectuals,” went on to enjoy great success (especially in the Boston area) over the next 20 years. 60 years later, Marimekko is once again thriving in the US. Independent curator Susan Ward will share the history of Marimekko from the 1950s to the present. Presented as part of Boston Design Week.
