Historic Newton Book Club

Thursday, Jan 31, 2013 7:30p
Historic Newton Newton, MA

This month’s book club selection is Stayin' Alive: The 1970's and the Last Days of the Working Class by Jefferson Cowie. The author has written a wide ranging political, cultural and economic history which examines the 1970's as a crucial, pivotal era that transitioned America from the New Deal (with its large, optimistic middle class) to the dampened expectations of the 1980's and into the present. Cowie captures defining characteristics of the 70's decade. Free. New members always welcome.
