A Writer's Dozen: An Exhibit featuring 12 Desks from the Newport Historical Society's Collection

Wednesday, Sep 11, 2013 11:00a to 3:00p

This exhibit highlights desks made in Newport by Newport craftsmen – and 2 fine examples from Providence. All were used by Newporters, and in some cases, generations of Newport families. Many of the traditional Newport desk forms are included, as well as some less common arrangements. The exhibit includes the desk at which William Ellery, signer of the Declaration of Independence, worked and wrote. Admission is available through the Seventh Day Baptist Meeting House site tour, Mon-Fri 11am-3pm.
