Founded in 1954, the Newport Jazz Festival® was the first jazz festival in America, and has been host to numerous legendary performances by iconic historic figures and contemporary geniuses. This year's opening night featured performer: Dr. John and the Lower 911. Also performing Preservation Hall Jazz Band, with special guests Catherine Russell and Jonathan Batiste. The show at the International Tennis Hall of Fame begins at 8 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m.
