Building the San Salvador with Dr. Raymond Ashley
Join us for an epic journey onboard the San Salvador with Dr. Raymond Ashley, President, Maritime Museum of San Diego.
As Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo’s flagship, the San Salvador was a 100 foot full-rigged galleon used for exploration. It was thefirst to anchor at the Santa Catalina Island in 1542.
Raymond takes us on the journey of constructing the vessel, giving us the opportunity to watch from a close perspective as the first modern industrial activity in America comes to life.
