The annual "Summer/Fall Giant Blue Whale Migration" brings hundreds of blue whales each summer/fall to the waters off Southern California. Over 1000 whales were viewed last summer (2011)and the blue whales have already arrived for 2012. Giant blue whales were once considered quite rare off southern California, but over the last five years this has changed with hundreds of giant blue whales spotted each year.
