A sleek, airy restaurant with deep booths, a gorgeous patio, and a small menu of Californian dishes. Part of the chain that owns Houston's restaurants. Located next to Neiman Marcus.
Full bar, but no happy hour.

Cafe R&D has a very very simple and limited menu. Despite the brevity, they do have some very tasty offerings. My personal favorites are the tuna tartare appetizer (but it's damn pricey $18...eesh!) and the cheeseburger (can't remember how much it cost, but it's comparable to ordering 5 burgers at In-n-Out!) I like the ambiance - it has a nice bar, booth seating, and rounder tables with high-back chairs. It's unfortunate that they no longer feature live jazz because that's what the initial appeal was for me. But, I still enjoy going there, especially after a long day of shopping!
